A blocked artery on the front of the heart (the LAD). Open the chest, go on bypass, and sew in a new graft to carry blood past the blockage.

A stiff, calcified aortic valve that won't open. Go on bypass, remove the worn valve, and sew a new one into the annulus, one careful suture at a time.
